About us
History
The club began when Ken Williams’ had an idea to start a Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Chapter on the Island. This was after attending a BC Bus Nuts Rally on the mainland. The first conceptual meeting was held July 7, 2002 at Glenora Hall, 62 persons attending from all over the island. A club name (Vancouver Islanders) was determined, annual dues decided and club officers elected. The first rally was held in Nanaimo, 27 coaches attended. We were off to a great start.
The club flourished over the years. More recently the number of members has gradually declined due to attrition and partly caused by COVID. Currently our club has 18 rigs. In 2023 an effort was made to attract new members and this website was started.
The Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) has changed its name to the Family RV Association (FRVA). This name change (August 2024) reflects the organization’s expanded focus to include all types of RVs, Not just motorhomes, and is part of a broader rebranding effort.
We are currently seeking new RVers who enjoy camping and would like to socialize with a group of other experienced travellers. Click the “Contact Us” button below and send us a message
