MEETING MINUTES

VANCOUVER ISLANDERS CHAPTER – FMCA

A regular meeting of the Vancouver Islanders Chapter of Family Motor Coach Association was held at the Cowichan Exhibition Center on Saturday, May 25, 2024. President Andy Balogh called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and welcomed all attendees.

A quorum was established. 

The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Matt Blogg, accepted and filed.

Treasurer Audrey Hauge gave the Treasurer’s Report. At the last meeting on May 27, 2023, our checking account balance was $2909.23 and as of today our balance is $3689.33. Treasurer’s report was accepted and filed. 

OLD BUSINESS
An Executive Board meeting was held at Cowichan Bay, there was discussion on a possible dues increase to cover costs of the trailer insurance and upkeep, website, AED battery and pads to be upgraded every 5 years. A motion was made by George O’Briain to keep the dues the same and re-evaluate each year. Seconded by Joe Blogg. Passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS
Andy updated the information regarding the website. Todd Allinger was unable to attend this meeting but is looking after the website. So far, we have spent $111.51 for a 3 year term for the server and $35.00 for the .ca and .com domain names. The $35.00 will be the yearly fee. Todd will give an update at the next meeting.

Andy mentioned that FMCA has made some changes in officer positions that allow chapters to have fewer mandatory officer positions to fulfill the FMCA requirements. The Secretary and Treasurer positions can be combined; i.e. Secretary/Treasurer counts as 1 position if 1 person holds both the positions. No Alternate National Director is required. The minimum positions can now be:

President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
National Director

The 2024 – 2026 election was held:

SECRETARY
Audrey Hague nominated Stella Blogg for Secretary. Stella declined. Joe Blogg volunteered to fill the Secretary position and was elected.

VICE PRESIDENT’
Verne Hauge nominated George O’Brian for Vice President. George accepted and was elected.

Andy suggested the third vice president position be left vacant, due to the small size of the chapter. Accepted and passed.
Andy asked for future rally site suggestions: Island View Beach, Park Ridge (Pay 2 nights get 1 free, club house is thought to be $50 per day), and Sooke River (after September) no sewer, free dump if camping there, were all suggested by those in attendance.

Please, if you have a place in mind, make sure to mention it to the Executive Board so we can look at the possibility of adding it to our list of rally sites.
Future rally locations – No one has reported back to Andy regarding future sites. We have the following confirmed sites for 2024:

• July 21 – 25, 2024 – LIVING FOREST RV Resort- RV spots are booked by attendees directly with the campground. More information on rally fee to come soon.
• August 30 – September 02, 2024 – COWICHAN BAY PIER more information to follow soon.
